Nina and Pinta Replicas Visiting Hudson, Wisconsin

Nina & Pinta

Replicas of two of Christopher Columbus’ ships, the Nina and Pinta, will be visiting Hudson, Wisconsin. The ships will be open to visitors at the Hudson Docks from Friday, Aug. 6, through Monday, Aug. 16.

Columbus Ship Replicas Come To Wisconsin

The “Nina” was built without power tools. Archaeology magazine calls it “the most historically correct Columbus replica ever built.” The “Pinta” was recently built to accompany the “Nina.”

Columbus sailed the orignal “Nina” across the Atlantic on his three voyages to the New World beginning in 1492. The “Pinta” was on the first voyage, as was the “Santa Maria.”

The ships will be open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Admission is $8.00 for adults, $6.00 for seniors and $5.00 for students.

  1. Can you tell me when the Nina and Pinta will be departing from Hudson, WI. My young son would really like to see them sail. Thanks

  2. The published schedule says they will be at the Hudson Docks through the 16th. I have read that they are docked at Winona’s Levee Park. I am sure someone locally should have an idea of departure times. The Columbus Foundation, which operates the ships, has a contact phone number in the BVI of (284) 495-4618.

  3. On Monday the 16th when will the ships leave Hudson for the Mississippi? Arrival time at the bridge in Prescott, Wi.

  4. I am sorry but I don’t have an answer to that. I am sure someone local has an idea but here on the banks of the Hudson River, I don’t know.

  5. We drove 2(TWO) hours to go see these ships with my six year old daughter who was very excited to see them. But we were extreemly disappointed when we arrived at 3:30pm on today Aug. 16th and the ships where gone. This site states that they where going to be there through Aug. 16th and as the times state it should have been there till 6pm. Not only was my daughter upset but my wife and I are pissed that we drove 2 hours expecting them to still be there as one would expect from the information gathered from this site. Please fire the person whom doesn’t understand the function of a calendar. Costing us time and gas.

  6. I am sorry you drove so far to see nothing. Nevertheless, we did quote local news sources on the schedules on the ships. I presume that you didn’t call or contact the local authorities or the ship operators to check the schedule, before you left on your drive. This blog is published on the banks of the Hudson River and we report on events that may be of interest to our readers around the world. In most cases, we rely on local sources for our information but do not guarantee that the information may not change over time. Ship schedules change for any number of reasons and it is always best to check before traveling to meet them.

  7. We to had made plans to see the ships, but when we got there they were packing up and would not let us tour them. I called to make sure (before we drove 1.5 hours) that they were going to be there and we were told yes they were going to be there until 6pm and we arrived at 3:50pm. I understand things change, but if a time is posted looks like they should honor it. Looks as if this is not the first time this has happened.
