  1. Carnival Cruises Miami office has an update on their website. There are 3299 guests (passengers) and 1167 crew on board making a total of 4466 persons. Ships fire crews battled the Engine Room fire and a later re-flash successfully. There is no mention of lifesaving equipment being deployed so all hands remain aboard. No A/C, hot food service, flushing toilets or telephones are available but it is being worked on. The current plan is to tow the vessel to Ensenada, Mexico and get passengers off and home.
    Good Watch.

  2. No reports of injuries, thus far. Just a major inconvenience.

Without air conditioning, flush toilets or hot food, the one thing I suspect it isn’t is a “Fun ship.”

  3. Whew, the toilets are now working but still no hot food. This is going to be a lesson to all the cruise lines on looking after 4500 or more persons when things go wrong. What if they had had to evacuate to the life-saving craft? Here’s hoping that they will pay attention to points we Safety Officers, both active and retired, have been making for years. Ah! there’s that “whiff of health and safety” again Gavin!!
    Good Watch.
