A Hawaiian Tsunami – National Geographic Simulation

The Hawaiian islands and the West Coast of the United States suffered relatively minor damage in Friday’s tsunami.   What would a tsunami created by a major eruption of Hawaii’s Mauna Loa volcano be like?  National Geographic presents  a chilling simulation.  Thanks to Linda Collison for posting this on Facebook.

  1. I’ve been a little surprised by how videos I’ve seen from Hawaii where people went to the beach to film it.

    ???!!!

Prime example. I couldn’t resist saying something. Joe & I both grew up in the Pacific and it turns out we both got the same safety lectures when we were kids.

  2. They’ve shown a similar video about what could happen when that volcano off the west coast of Africa slides into the Atlantic sending a huge wave into our east coast.
I’d be more precise, but don’t feel like fighting with GMap’s advertising on the map.
