Update: Wisdom, the Albatross, Survives Tsunami

Last week we posted about a Laysan albatross, nicknamed Wisdom, who, at at least 60, is the oldest known wild bird and who also recently became a mother again, delivering a healthy chick.   The BBC has now reported that while the tsunami killed thousands of albatrosses and other endangered species at a wildlife sanctuary north-west of Hawaii,  Wisdom was among the survivors.  Perhaps that shouldn’t be too surprising.  She is one tough old bird.

  1. The immediate effects of the earthquake are likely to cause a drop in oil demand, but it is likely that in the long‐run, oil and product demand could rebound to levels that surpass those seen pre‐quake as the country re‐builds

  2. Ah! that sigh of contentment is from my wife’s excellent dinner of corned beef, cabbage, potatos, and white sauce. Thank you Rick for the clarification after a green mist this morning.
So Maewyn Succat is it, well now that sounds Breton to me rather than Briton not an uncommon mistake. How on earth did he convert to Christianity in Druid Pagan Ireland. I think it was after he returned home to wherever. It is likely he already was a Christian when captured. Anyway its a nice story and we Irish(and those of French descent) have been trading on it for centuries!!

    Good Watch.
