  1. Hello. Just a note to announce a recently published article of mine in the International Journal of Maritime History, XXV, No. 1 (June 2013), 229-238. It is entitled “Into the Breach” and is about Maine built ships in the Greenland Patrol of WW2. This is part of my ongoing PhD research on the connections between Maine and the Polar Regions that have produced other published articles such as:
“The Fate of LOUISE: A Maine-built ‘down-easter’ at Grytviken Harbor, South Georgia Island” Mariner’s Mirror Vol. 98, No. 3 (August 2012), 301-311.

“Dirigo in the Arctic: Donald B. MacMillan, Harrison J. Hunt, and the Crocker Land Expedition, 1913-1917” Maine History Vol. 46 (June 2012), 169-194.

“A Mainer on the JEANNETTE” The Polar Times Vol. 3, No 16 (Jan 2011), 10-13

    Articles pending publication include:
“An Antarctic Hero: The History and Fate of the NSF Research Vessel HERO”
