The Clearwater’s Great Hudson River Revival, June 21st & 22nd

ClearwaterFestival2012_HudsonStage_PhotoEconosmith-300x252The days around the summer solstice will be a busy time on the Hudson River.  We recently posted about the North River Historic Ship Festival on the Hudson River Park’s Pier 25 in Lower Manhattan from Friday, June 20 to Tuesday June 24.

Roughly 50 miles upriver at Croton Point Park in Croton-On-Hudson, NY, on June 21-22, the Clearwater Great Hudson River Revival will be celebrating the Hudson River with music, food, crafts and sailing on the sloop Clearwater or schooner Mystic Whaler.   TheClearwater Festival is the country’s oldest and largest music and environmental festival, bringing together major musical acts and Clearwater’s own brand of green activism.

This year’s festival will feature  Lucinda Williams, Rory Block, Norah Jones; singer-songwriter, Rufus Wainwright; alternative Country/Swing band, The Mavericks; legendary guitarist and singer, Richard Thompson; jam band moe.playing a special acoustic set; Martin Sexton; Josh Ritter; Dar Williams; David Bromberg’s Big Band; ukulele virtuoso, Jake Shimabukuro; Buckwheat Zydeco; soul diva, Bettye LaVette; indie jazz/soul band, Lake Street Dive; Congolese Salsa great, Ricardo Lemvo; children’s music artist Laurie Berkner, and many others.  Click here to learn more.

  1. For folks who love sea songs, I’ll be at the Revival, running the Maritime Song Swap at the Circle of Song Stage by the River in the Boats area on Saturday morning from 11 to 11:40 AM. Come with stout hearts and strong voices, and be ready to tail onto some rousing chanteys, ballads, and foc’sle songs old and new!
