Two More Cruise Ships Quarantined with Coronavirus

Two more cruise ships are being quarantined for 14 days each in hopes of limiting the spread of the coronavirus. Ten people aboard the Diamond Princess tested positive for the virus. Of these nine are passengers — two Australians, three Japanese, three from Hong Kong, and one from the U.S. — as well as one Filipino crew member. Those who tested positive will be taken ashore to local hospitals, leaving the roughly 2,660 passengers and 1,045 crew, under quarantine for two weeks.

A second ship, the World Dream, is docked at Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Cruise Terminal with 1,800 people on board, the city’s Department of Health said Wednesday. 3,700 people are being held aboard pending more testing after three confirmed cases of coronavirus were reported.

  1. Wow, that is a painfull pill to swallow for business expense. Tho on a positive note, they arent burning fuel in the main engines. Yet it is equipment that is supposed to garner income. Instead they are floating hospitals stuck in a port.

  2. What if more people become ill on-board, does the quarantine period extend for another 14 days and so on ad infinitum?
Time to bring back the code Y (I think it was) flag for sickness aboard. Many people think that the Q flag was the quarantine flag but it signifies “My vessel is healthy and I request free practique”

  3. How are they feeding all those on the Diamond Princess, guests and crew? I am so concerned and empathetic for those who are sick and also those who are held hostage by this epidemic. Send my regards to the Captain, from a very satisfied past cruiser on the Diamond. we met the Captain while on our cruise.
If anyone can respond, I would appreciate it. From a past passenger on this beautiful ship.
