The Auxiliary-Sail Trading Vessel Tiare Taporo is a full powered 300-ton steel ketch rigged cargo & passenger vessel serving the tropical Cook Islands, South Pacific Ocean, west of Tahiti. We are seeking mariners who are looking for professional & vocational positions in the marine industry as well as offering apprentice training opportunities. Plenty on-the-job training included. This is the unique opportunity to engage in real inter-island trade and service. 

Master and Mates: Minimum 500-ton ocean endorsed certificate and associated certificates, sail and power experience, tropical and coral navigation experience a plus, training ship and cargo handling experience a plus. Passenger experience also a plus.

Engineer: The Tiare Taporo has a sophisticated engine room recently completely overhauled led by a 900 HP DEUTZ direct reversing main engine. GM auxiliaries and a range of hydraulics, pumps, and tanks. The after compartment of the vessel is fitted with air conditioning.

Cook: modern galley with electric stove, air conditioning and ample refrigeration. 

Deckhands: STCW BST certifications required and background in sailing ships and the sea.

Apprentices: Vocational training and island experience offered. Low tuition rates.
